In our kitchen, sitting on the countertop, we have a greenish-yellow wine bottle with a very short string of soft white fairy lights inside. When it's on, the bottle glows with a calming warmth that sooths the soul. As soon as we get home from work, that bottle gets plugged in. Even in broad daylight, there’s just something soothing about the emitted glow. And when we’re finished with dinner and all the other lights are turned off in the kitchen, the calming colors really stand out. It’s not a blinding light, but a rather smooth, mellow light that falls delicately around the bottle and throughout the room.

I often wonder how something so simple can bring such contentment. I think the key is in its simplicity. It’s just an old wine bottle with fairy lights inside. No turning on any electronics. No waiting thru a 30 second ad when you turn it on. No one to tell you how you how you should feel. Simply plug it in a viola. It’s almost magical how something so simple can have such an effect on my mood.

Do you have something similar? The flicker of a battery powered candle. Maybe a string of lights in a simple flower arrangement. Perhaps it’s the soft glow of a tea light, or a couple of solar powered garden lights. Whatever it is, why not share it with the community. A little Sprightly light goes a long way.
