Breathe.... (2)

Breathe

What do you need right now? Do you know? If you’re feeling anxious or unsure, or just need a moment for yourself, go sit somewhere quiet.  It can be anywhere that’s away from the noise.  Now take three deep breaths.  Really breathe. Not the shallow breathing you do all of the time, but a nice deep breath. One that fills your lungs and your ribcage. Do that two more times.

Now that you are away from the noise, listen to the still small voice inside of you. What is it saying? What do you really want or need in this moment. It may be as simple as this quiet time to sit and catch your breath. Or it may be that you need to do something. Something for yourself. A minute to just BE with yourself.

If you take the time to do this exercise each day, or at least a couple of times each week, you will begin to feel more relaxed overall. You will be amazed how much better you feel. The clarity that comes from being still. Perhaps you will find it helpful to think of everything you have to feel grateful for in your life. You woke up this morning and got out of bed. You have a home. A bed. People who care about you. You are able to take a deep breath. We all have much to be thankful for. Sometimes we just need to be still long enough to be intentional and look for it.
