Feeling Alive!
What makes you feel alive? I read a quote in Parade magazine from 2018, by Betty White, which I believe sums up her life. “Enjoy life! Accentuate the positive, not the negative. It sounds so trite, but a lot of people will pick up something to complain about, rather than say, ‘Hey, that was great!’ It’s not hard to find great stuff if you look.”
Betty is the image I hold of someone who lived a Sprightly Life! She lived with sparkle, joy, love and laughter and embodied the same core values of people world-wide who live a full life into their 90’s and beyond.
The core values are community, nutrition, movement, purpose and knowing how to unplug. Betty may have fallen a bit short in the area of nutrition, so maybe we don’t need to do everything perfectly. Thank goodness!!
I wonder what the attraction was with hot dogs in previous generations. As I have read more about Betty over the past few days, it’s clear they were her favorite food and a staple in her diet. Many of you have heard me mention that was my Dad’s favorite food too! Although he was almost a generation behind her.
So, I will ask you again, “what makes you feel alive?” What will you do today that brings you joy and makes you smile? Is there a friend or family member you could reach out to? Our purpose is always found in serving others and many times we are blessed as much, if not more, than the person we reach out to.
Wishing you a day filled with Sparkle, Joy, Love & Laughter!
