Self-Care
What comes to mind when you hear the term self-care? Going to get your hair and nails done? Maybe it’s having time to read a good novel, or binge watch your favorite show. However you choose to relax and unwind is entirely personal. The important thing is to make time for YOU. Time to refresh your soul, and fill your cup. You’ve heard it said you can’t pour from an empty cup and that is a fact.
Do you find it difficult to give yourself the time you need because you feel it’s selfish? I am here to assure you that it is NOT selfish and in fact is necessary. When you feel your best; rested, fueled, energized (body, mind & spirit), you are in a position to give the best of yourself to those around you. When we allow ourselves to become depleted, we’re easily agitated, on edge and generally no fun to be around; and we know it!
As we head into the weekend, what will you do for YOU? It may be as simple as taking some time to read a good book for even 30 minutes. It doesn’t have to take up hours of time. It does need to be something you thoroughly enjoy. Get outside. Take a walk. Phone a good friend. Watch your favorite sitcom or romcom. Make yourself a cup of tea and just sit in silence or listen to some calming music.
The choices are endless. The main thing is to make the time for YOU. Not only will you feel better, the people around you will benefit as well.
